Terms of use
Last updated 14 October 2026
These are the terms for the app JoyJar: Shared Gratitude Jar and JoyJar’s web pages. By signing in to JoyJar, or by using a guest link or a link to a sent joy, you agree to them.
1. Who we are
JoyJar is made and run by ReAlign Leadership LLC, 464 Ewing St, Princeton, NJ 08540, USA (“we”). You can reach us at support@joyjar.app.
2. Who can use JoyJar
JoyJar is for people aged 13 and over. If you are under 18, use it only with the agreement of a parent or guardian.
3. Your account
You sign in with a code we send to your email address, so whoever can read that email can sign in as you. Keep it safe. An account is for one person.
4. Price
- JoyJar is free to download and free to use for 30 days from the day your account is made.
- After that, adding new joys needs a one-time payment of $4.99 (your store shows the price in your own money and adds any tax). There is no subscription and there are no ads.
- If you do not pay, you can still read, search, pull, send and export everything you have already written, and edit or delete it. That stays free.
- A shared jar that you started stops taking new joys from anyone once your 30 days are over, until you unlock JoyJar. Everyone in it can still read it.
- The payment unlocks your JoyJar account, on every iPhone and Android phone you sign in to.
- Payments are taken by Apple or Google under their own terms. Refunds are theirs to give. If a payment is refunded, the unlock is switched off. Deleting your account does not refund a payment.
5. What you write is yours
Your joys and photos belong to you. You give us permission to store them and to show them to you and to the people you choose (the people in a jar you share, and anyone you send a link to), for as long as you keep them in JoyJar. We use them for nothing else.
6. Sharing with other people
You are responsible for what you add to a shared jar, drop into a jar through a guest link, or send as a link or postcard. Share a photo of someone else only if you have the right to.
Everyone in a shared jar can read everything in it. A link to a sent joy can be opened by anyone who has it.
7. What is not allowed
JoyJar is for keeping and sharing good moments. You must not use it, in a shared jar, through a guest link or in a joy you send, to add or send anything that:
- is against the law;
- is abusive, threatening, harassing or bullying, or attacks people for who they are;
- is sexually explicit, or sexualises anyone under 18 in any way;
- shows or encourages serious violence or harm to anyone;
- gives away another person’s private details without their agreement;
- is spam, advertising or a scam;
- copies someone else’s work without the right to.
You must also not try to get into a jar or an account that is not yours, pretend to be someone else, or flood a jar or a guest link with notes.
8. Reporting, and what we do about it
- In a shared jar you can report a joy, hide a person’s joys on your phone, or leave the jar. The person who started the jar can remove a joy or a person.
- On a page made from a sent joy, anyone can press “Report this page”.
- To report a person, or anything else, write to support@joyjar.app.
We aim to look at every report within a day. If something breaks these terms we may remove it, end a link, remove a person from a jar, or close their account. If we do, we will email you to say so. An account closed for breaking these terms cannot be opened again with the same email address.
9. The service
We work to keep JoyJar running and your joys safe, and we may change or improve it over time. We cannot promise it will never fail or lose anything. Your joys are also on your phone, and you can export them at any time; we suggest you do so now and then.
JoyJar is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, we give no other promises about it, we are not responsible for losses that we could not reasonably have foreseen, and our total responsibility to you is limited to the amount you paid us for JoyJar. Nothing in these terms takes away rights the law gives you that cannot be given up.
10. Ending
You can stop using JoyJar and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. If we ever decide to close JoyJar, we will give at least 30 days’ notice, by email to the address you sign in with, so that you can export your joys.
11. If you got JoyJar from Apple’s App Store
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for JoyJar or what is in it, and has no duty to support or maintain it. If JoyJar fails to do what it should, you may tell Apple and Apple may refund the price you paid; beyond that Apple has no other duty about JoyJar. Any claim about JoyJar, including one about its safety, the law, or someone else’s rights, is for us to deal with, not Apple. You confirm that you are not in a country under a United States government embargo and are not on a United States government list of barred people. Apple and its companies may enforce these terms against you as a third party that benefits from them.
12. The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of the State of New Jersey, USA, and disputes go to the courts in New Jersey. If you are a consumer living somewhere whose law gives you protections that cannot be signed away, you keep them.
13. Changes
If we change these terms we will put the new version here with a new date. If a change matters, we will tell you by email, at the address you sign in with, before it takes effect.
